Choosing the Right Keywords
1. Search Volume
Look for keywords with meaningful search volume:
- • Low competition targets: 100-1,000 searches/month
- • Medium competition targets: 1,000-10,000 searches/month
- • High competition targets: 10,000+ searches/month
2. Keyword Difficulty
Target keywords you can realistically rank for:
- • New sites: Keyword difficulty 0-20 (very easy)
- • Established sites: Keyword difficulty 20-40 (easy to medium)
- • Authority sites: Keyword difficulty 40-60 (medium to hard)
3. Search Intent
Match content type to search intent:
- • Informational: "how to", "what is", "guide to" → How-To, Guide
- • Commercial: "best", "top", "review" → Listicle, Review
- • Comparison: "vs", "versus", "or" → Comparison
4. Relevance
Only target keywords relevant to your niche, audience, and business goals. High traffic from irrelevant keywords won't convert.

Keyword Strategies
Topic Cluster Strategy
Build topical authority by targeting related keywords:
- 1. Create pillar content manually: Comprehensive guide on main topic
- 2. Find 10-20 cluster keywords: Specific subtopics related to pillar
- 3. Create campaign for cluster: Generate supporting articles
- 4. Link cluster to pillar: Use internal linking to connect everything
Long-Tail Strategy
Target specific, low-competition keywords with clear intent:
Competitor Gap Analysis
Find keywords your competitors rank for but you don't:
- Use Ahrefs or SEMrush to find competitor keywords
- Filter for keywords where they rank in top 20 but you don't
- Prioritize by search volume and relevance
- Create campaign to target these gaps
Managing Keywords
Prioritize Keywords
Set priority levels (High, Medium, Low) to control generation order. High-priority keywords generate first.
Pause/Resume Keywords
Temporarily pause keywords without deleting them. Useful for seasonal content or when you need to focus on other keywords first.
Remove Duplicates
SlopAds automatically detects duplicate keywords within a campaign. Review and merge duplicates to avoid wasting credits.
Track Generation Status
Monitor which keywords have been generated, which are in progress, and which are pending. Filter by status to manage large keyword lists.
- Don't stuff keywords: Use natural variations and related terms
- Match content type to intent: How-to keywords need How-To content type
- Start small: Test with 5-10 keywords before scaling to hundreds
- Review search results: Look at what currently ranks for your target keywords
- Update regularly: Trends change - refresh keyword lists quarterly
