Your First Campaign
Learn how to create and launch your first content campaign
Campaigns are collections of related content around a topic or keyword theme. This guide walks you through creating your first campaign from start to finish.
A campaign is a container for related articles sharing common settings like content type, execution mode, and publishing configuration.
Example: A "Project Management Tools" campaign might have 20 keywords like "best project management software", "Asana vs Trello", "how to use Jira", etc.
Creating Your Campaign
Navigate to Campaigns
From the dashboard, click Campaigns in the sidebar, then click Create Campaign.
Name Your Campaign
Choose a descriptive name that reflects the topic or keyword theme.
Good campaign names:
- • "SaaS Marketing Guides"
- • "E-commerce SEO Tips"
- • "Project Management Tools Comparison"
Avoid:
- • "Campaign 1" (not descriptive)
- • "Test" (unclear purpose)
Select Content Type
Choose the content format for this campaign. All articles in the campaign will use this type.
- Listicle: Top 10 lists, rankings ("Best X for Y")
- How-To: Step-by-step guides and tutorials
- Comparison: "X vs Y" articles
- Review: Product or service reviews
- Guide: Comprehensive pillar content
Choose Execution Mode
Execution mode controls how thoroughly each pipeline stage runs and whether manual review is required.
QUALITY (Recommended for first campaign)
Maximum quality focus with manual review checkpoint. Best for learning what SlopAds generates. Takes 120-180 seconds per article.
HYBRID
Balanced approach with manual review before publishing. Good for ongoing use. Takes 90-120 seconds per article.
YOLO / SLOP
Fast generation with minimal or no review. Use once you trust the output quality. Takes 60-90 seconds per article.
Select CMS Connection
Choose which website to publish to. You can select any CMS connection you've set up, or choose "Draft Only" to generate content without publishing.
If you haven't connected a CMS yet, follow the CMS setup guide first. You can also select "Draft Only" to test content generation.
Add Keywords
Add the keywords you want to target. Each keyword becomes one article.
Tips for choosing keywords:
- • Be specific: "best email marketing software for small business" is better than "email software"
- • Match search intent: "How to" keywords should use How-To content type
- • Check search volume: Use tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, or Google Keyword Planner
- • Start small: 5-10 keywords for your first campaign
You can add keywords one at a time, or bulk import from a CSV file.
Configure Publishing Settings
Set optional publishing preferences:
- Auto-publish: Publish immediately after generation (or save as draft)
- Author: Which author to attribute articles to
- Categories/Tags: Automatically categorize published content
- Featured image: Auto-generate or use a placeholder
Running Your Campaign
Once your campaign is configured:
- Click "Start Campaign" to begin generating articles
- Monitor progress in real-time as articles move through the 8-stage pipeline
- Review content (if using QUALITY or HYBRID mode) before publishing
- Publish or schedule articles to your CMS
For your first campaign, start with 5-10 articles in QUALITY mode. This lets you evaluate content quality and adjust settings before scaling up to YOLO or AUTO-YOLO mode with larger campaigns.
Monitoring Your Campaign
Track your campaign's progress from the dashboard:
- Pipeline view: See which stage each article is currently in
- Article count: Track completed vs. in-progress vs. failed articles
- Quality scores: Review SEO and readability scores for each article
- Publishing status: See which articles have been published to your CMS
