WordPress Setup Guide
Connect your WordPress site to SlopAds using Application Passwords for secure, direct publishing
- WordPress 5.6 or higher
- Administrator access to your WordPress site
- HTTPS enabled (required for Application Passwords)
Step 1: Create Application Password
Navigate to User Profile
Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard and go to Users → Profile or click your profile icon in the top right.
Scroll to Application Passwords Section
Scroll down to the Application Passwords section near the bottom of the profile page.
Application Passwords require WordPress 5.6+ and HTTPS. If you don't see this section, check your WordPress version and ensure your site uses HTTPS.
Generate New Password
Enter a name for the application password:
SlopAdsThen click Add New Application Password.
Copy the Password
WordPress will generate a password that looks like this:
AbCd EfGh IjKl MnOp QrSt UvWxCopy this password immediately. WordPress will only show it once. If you lose it, you'll need to generate a new one.
Step 2: Connect to SlopAds
Add WordPress Connection
In your SlopAds dashboard:
- Go to Settings → Content Destinations
- Click Add Connection
- Select WordPress
Enter Connection Details
Fill in the following information:
- Site URL: Your WordPress site URL (e.g., https://yourblog.com)
- Username: Your WordPress username
- Application Password: The password you just generated (remove spaces)
Site URL: https://yourblog.com
Username: yourname
Password: AbCdEfGhIjKlMnOpQrStUvWxTest Connection
Click Test Connection to verify everything works. If successful, click Save.
Your WordPress site is now connected. You can publish content directly from SlopAds.
Troubleshooting
Connection Failed
Solution: Verify your site URL includes https://, check your username is correct, and ensure you removed all spaces from the application password.
Authentication Error
Solution: The application password may have expired or been deleted. Generate a new one in WordPress and update your connection.
No Application Passwords Section
Solution: Update WordPress to 5.6 or higher and ensure your site uses HTTPS. Some hosting providers may disable this feature.
